We use Litmus to facilitate email tracking, as well as using some of its experimental features in future emails to see if people interact with them more. We also use Litmus to test and help identify any issues that arise in different email clients, and work to mitigate said issues, that way making sure that all users can have the best email experience, whether on mobile or desktop.
  • Coding HTML emails. Coding has never been so easier, specially being able to see how the email will look in different email clients, being able to identify issues, and finding ways to work around them.
  • Email tracking for analytics. Being able to see the data in a simple and understanding way without being confused as to what is what.
  • Support. They have a great support team in case any issues or errors are encountered. Even asking them simple questions can lead to great answers that you wouldn't expect.
  • In the Analyze section. A button to create new tracking codes off the bat would be great, without having to go into the tracking code manager first.
Email tracking for Analytics, its great, simple to read and understand, as well as the coding of emails for testing against different email clients. Helps in finding any accessibility issues that might arise, as well as other problems or challenges that some email clients put up. The best part being a live editor helps in seeing your changes right away.

In our organization, Litmus plays a pivotal role in the final quality assurance and testing phases of our email marketing campaigns. It efficiently addresses business challenges by offering a streamlined, quick, and reliable solution, ensuring that our email content functions seamlessly across diverse Email Service Providers (ESPs). Previously encountering clunkiness with other programs, Litmus has proven invaluable in expediting our testing process, providing comprehensive checks for elements like images, links, and responsive design. Its user-friendly interface and ability to preview emails on different devices contribute to a smoother workflow, ultimately enhancing the visual consistency and effectiveness of our campaigns. Litmus has become an indispensable tool, allowing us to meet tight deadlines and deliver a consistently positive user experience across various ESPs.
  • Display emails on different ESP in a quick and organised way.
  • App integration for easy checking.
  • Clear tick box.
  • It would be great if there was an integration where we could make necessary changes in Litmus and update Klaviyo.
  • A better understanding of ways to optimize - things may be good as is, but what are ways that we can improve it for a better-sending reputation?
  • Sometimes the app in Chrome is clunky.
Litmus proves highly effective in scenarios demanding thorough and swift testing of diverse and visually intricate email campaigns, particularly in cross-platform environments where consistent rendering across various ESPs and devices is essential. Its quick and reliable testing capabilities make it well-suited for last-minute QA checks, ensuring campaigns meet tight deadlines. Litmus excels in verifying responsive design, contributing to a positive user experience. Additionally, its user-friendly interface facilitates collaborative workflows, making it ideal for our agency with multiple stakeholders involved in the email marketing process. However, for smaller organizations with budget constraints or those with simpler, less frequent email campaigns, Litmus may be perceived as overly comprehensive, potentially making it less appropriate in such scenarios.

Litmus is well integrated with our platform of choice, Salesforce. That makes it very easy to use. The tests also render pretty quick most times, so that's also great, we can iterate quickly. We had representatives guiding us with some ad-hoc training, which was helpful. Must admit we use it to its most basic functionality, only a couple times we used the website which offers more functionalities.

The negative thing I've found is that it doesn't seem we can decide ourselves what platforms to render, so there's lot of repetition and some cases missing. Not sure if is up to managers to adjust or some setting I haven't found.
  • Speed of renders
  • Number of platforms available
  • Allowing user to choose which tests to perform

We use Litmus as a testing tool to make sure an email is rendering across all platforms correctly as well as part of our QA process using the Proof feature which allows our editorial team to view and suggest edits. I am also an avid reader of the Litmus newsletter and they are the first place I check when I need advice on all things email. Previously, at another company we used Litmus as a repository as well as a way to build emails with their builder tool.
  • One-stop review
  • Providing helpful and interesting content
  • Design Library
  • WYSIWYG feature
Currently we are using it as a proofing tool where our editorial team can view the email and make comments directly in it. This is helpful because review can happen in one place and we as the builders can also view the different platforms to make sure it is rendering correctly. I would like to be using Litmus more at my current company there are a lot of features I am excited to try like personalize, which I think will be a perfect way to gain insight from our audience based on polls. I would also like to use the Email guardian since we have a lot of lifecycle emails that i think can often be forgotten about. Currently the design and build feature is not utilized for my organization since we are moving over to an ESP with a WYSIWYG editor.

We use it to build and test Salesforce EDM templates as well as periodically check them against new developments such as dark mode.
  • Quick and easy preview of emails across platforms
  • Easy to share results across team Builder mode invaluable in speeding up dev time
  • Litmus goes through previews too quickly, doing full sets in builder when you need to focus on just one platform
  • Litmus could offer preview for web browsers
  • Litmus plug in for Salesforce should be supported on all plans
It's best for templates, as it's quite time-consuming.

We use litmus to QA an email visually across multiple email clients. We also use the litmus builder to collaborate on emails.
  • QA across multiple email clients.
  • Send proofs to gather comments.
  • Accept emails sent to it.
  • The visual builder is glitchy and doesnt save changes sometimes.
  • The code editor has low contrast and is uncomfortable to code in
  • The control+f sucks and half of the time the result is underneath the control+f overlay
Well suited in a corporate account where you can get as many previews as you want. Not well suited for individuals.

I use Litmus to debug email code in real-time using the Build app. I also extensively use the Test app to identify rendering issues across all email clients and mobile devices. I have also use the Analytics script and app to provide very specific email use stats to clients.
  • Litmus is the best email rendering engine, keeping up with the ever changing collection of email apps, web clients and mobile devices.
  • Litmus continues to iterate on their goal to provide the full suite of tools for serious email marketers, from SMB to Enterprise.
  • Litmus creates reliable content and training to support the email dev and marketing community.
  • As email development adopts more scripting and code automation, Litmus has an opportunity to increase their API integration and generative AI functionality.
If you send marketing emails, commercial or transactional, Litmus is an indispensable tool. It is a mistake to assume that the emails you have created, either from code from a template builder, will render the way you see them in preview. Only Litmus has the full suite of tools to code, debug, preview and workflow the journey to a 100% perfectly rendered email for all the subscribers you've worked so hard to acquire and nurture.

I mainly use it for testing emails, especially emails with new designs, etc. For new designs, we usually use Bee editor, then paste the code into our email platform (BBIS), then test the email through Litmus to check functionality across different email platforms. We send a few hundred emails out to our constituents each year.
  • Checking previews on email platforms and mobile.
  • Confirming if links function correctly.
  • Make sure images are appearing as they should.
  • Certain previews don't function, there are always some that don't work at the time needed.
I think it's well suited to everything I need. It would be nice to be able to build through Litmus, too, like in Bee Editor.

We use it to test templates on different email client, to ensure quality assurance and delivery times are met with minimum window for human error.
  • Gives you all email clients most commonly on preview.
  • Helps you iterate faster.
  • Helps you prevent common mistakes in mailing campaigns.
  • It could help you suggest what it needs to be corrected.
  • Have dark mode.
  • It could help you highlight where it could be improved.
It has helped me worked on iterations and correcting mistakes that have saved time and costs.

With Litmus, each account has designated Litmus email addresses to send test emails. Instead of creating a new email in Litmus, your team can send an email draft to the Litmus test address, to add the email to your account. By using a different type of test address, you can make sure your email is attributed to the correct team member or organized in the correct folder quickly and easily. Finding the perfect email workflow is an art and a science, but finding your stride can have major benefits.
  • Personal test email addresses. Each user has an email address, which is useful for tracking who created and sent which emails.
  • Project-specific test email addresses. Projects and folders keep everything in your Litmus account organized, and each has a designated Litmus email address.
  • The new version will overwrite the previous version instead of having multiple copies of the same email floating around.
Customizing Litmus access based on each team member’s role on the email marketing team can eliminate the potential for error and streamline your processes from start to finish. Your team members will have access to the tools they need to complete their respective tasks quickly, without getting bogged down with functionality they don’t need.

We use it for QA and spam testing.
  • The code editor for testing updates is great
  • The feature for previewing emails across EPS is great
  • The checklists are awesome
  • Sometimes re-testing changes across the EPS after a change is made in the builder tool is difficult.

We use Litmus in various ways. The most common business value is within the Previews and QA section where we can see how our emails render across various devices, clients, browsers, and versions within each. Litmus provides this view in a single dashboard with the ability to zoom into each rendering. Litmus also provides insights into the functionality of each link (and what might be broken). Also available is feedback on the subject line, from name, reply to, and preview text. There are also insights on accessibility and suggestions for where those can be improved. Along with this are visual impairment filters which provide renderings on how the email appears for readers with various sight impairments. Litmus also provides what the email looks like if images are turned off along with the text-only version. Two other key areas of feedback are load time and spam testing.

Although not as frequent, we do sometimes have a need to quickly build new emails and analyze how they render, and for this we use the Builder functionality within Litmus. Our CRM platform fills this need most of the time, but using Builder is a way to quickly pull an email together and then copy/paste the code into our CRM platform.

Finally, another key area of value for our team is via the Litmus Analyze functionality. Although there is a little bit of setup involved, these analytics allow key insights into our email audience including the proportion using different email clients, browsers, devices; a generalized view of engagement (read time, skimms, etc.), and the proportion of the audience impacted by Apple MPP. What this analysis does not provide however is with identifying which specific audience members fall into that MPP bucket, which would allow us to segment email engagement reporting more precisely.
  • Extent of email renderings
  • Analysis of audience composition by device, browser, etc. and engagement
  • Blog articles and help documentation
  • Spam and link analysis
  • More CRM platform integrations, esp. for Builder HTML and analytics
Litmus is a great multi-purpose tool for building, testing, and analyzing emails and audiences. This is especially the case when using an email platform with limited functionality.

For businesses with enterprise email platforms and those with integrated rendering engines, Litmus acts more like a second check but may not be worth the investment depending on added cost.

Litmus assists us with testing, editing and collaborating email development. Prior to purchasing Litmus we were using Word/XLS docs to highlight edits needed for emails. As an intermediate between brand partners and the developers the Marketing Delivery team was wresting with multiple, individual processes to approve emails. Litmus unified this process in the easiest way possible. "Non Technical" team members were able to pick up the intuitive Proof interface quickly, making training a short call. Also the frictionless registration process for Reviewers makes onboarding easy. The Preview and QA area is a valuable source of feedback for any marketer as it shows exactly how your email renders in multiple email clients as well as advise on subject/preview line viability and link checking. The best part is the Spam Testing function, which provides an exhaustive series of reports on how your email may fall into spam traps and junk folders. Litmus is the best!
  • Email proof collaboration
  • Spam Testing
  • Version control
  • Email client rendering
  • Link checking
  • I wish the email lists were "sticky" when inside folders: I have to click on "display 100" emails to see all my versions and when I go back, I have to click on the display option again.
  • The Spam Test email list would be great as a importable data extension
  • It would be great to see a single email display multiple versions based on the personalization/dynamic content coded into it. One Proof for a dynamic email but the different versions of content could expand out.
Litmus is perfect for marketers that need multiple points of approval. The speed at which you can collaborate is the most valuable. We're able to take Beta resolutions from 5 business days down to 2. We've not used Builder much as we use 3rd party developers to create our emails and syncing back to our ESP isn't possible but we do use it to inspect and locate bugs in the code and report back to the developers.

Litmus is useful to us for various aspects of email marketing as it integrates seamlessly with Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Before deploying emails, we check for correct rendering of emails on various platforms, checking inbox deliverability, verifying links, checking spam filters Additionally the platform allows us to measure engagement levels with the litmus tracking functionality. We can deploy emails with more confidence and share data amongst all members of the marketing team.
  • Inbox Deliverability
  • Spam Filter Checking
  • Quality Control
  • Visual Platform Rendering
  • Add area for feedback / suggestions
  • Send key update notifications quarterly
Litmus allows me to hit send with confidence, knowing that there are no broken links. It also allows you to check that your emails are being delivered to inboxes on each email service provider and that your IP address and Domains are not on any blacklists. You will also gain valuable insights in time spent reading emails and also preference data in terms of how many users are reading emails in dark mode

We primarily use Litmus to see how our email code will render across a multitude of devices. We need to ensure that our content looks great for desktop, mobile, and web email clients. If we run into problems, we have the luxury in Litmus where we can tweak code in their builder to see how our changes affect renderings.
  • Multiple device support
  • Builder
  • Analytics
  • Would love to easily be able to build the Litmus that I want. Keep tools we need, strip/hide tools we don't.
For anyone testing emails for an array of customers, Litmus is a must. Especially when you anticipate those customers are using email clients that you don't have access to. They also have a wealth of knowledge that you can search/peruse to help narrow down solutions to issues an email developer might be facing.

Litmus was used to check our templates for readability across various devices and email platforms, especially in Outlook, but also with some of the more obscure platforms that some of our regions' contacts still used. Additionally we used it to check for inbox placement for some of our more important corporate messaging to larger audiences.
  • Email render testing
  • Email optimization
  • HTML coding help
  • Spam testing
  • Offers lots of helpful content that is consistently up to date
  • Ease of use--it's gotten a bit more complicated recently and is not as intuitive.
  • Nickel-and-dimed features - not (always) an all inclusive package for all features and it's expensive to add users if you need to add 1 or 2 more.
We use this primarily for checking email rendering in situations where you may be creating HTML emails (ie, coding it yourself) or more complex looking emails from a WYSIWYG editor (ie, multiple columns). Litmus offers a robust HTML support and checking as well as the aforementioned email render visuals. However, if your emails are essentially templated and only the content and images change, it may not be worth the expense.

I use Litmus to assist in our email processes, primarily in proofing/QA. Litmus is a useful tool to communicate and show progress among myself, copywriters, and the QA team.
  • Allows for alerts and notifications for communication between teams.
  • Provides a visual representation of an email and it's rendering properties.
  • Provides a central location where information/edits can be made.
  • Maybe integration with platforms we already are using? Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Asana, Slack, etc etc.

  • Testing emails for consistency
  • Tracking the opens of emails
  • Adding latest devices
  • Articles for possible bugs and workarounds

Testing emails we build for our clients before they are sent to ensure that the email list recipients are able to view the email as expected regardless of their device. To put it shortly "Quality Control" to prevent errors before they are sent.
  • Cross Device Testing
  • Email Code Editor
  • Two Factor Login Required
  • Auto Organizing Multiple Versions of the Same Email
  • Two Factor Authentication
  • Web Page Testing
Litmus is the best tool for email testing hands down. If you send professional emails you need to use Litmus. It also has a good and helpful code editor built in. However, the software is not cheap especially if multiple members of your team need to login from time to time or you need Litmus to directly integrate with your Email Service Provider (ESP)

We use Litmus to help us navigate the treacherous world of email browers. Sending out daily marketing emails is part of the strategy the business uses and our use of Litmus allows us a degree of confidence that our customers will see the emails as they were intended and not the broken mess that they will inevitably be without testing.
  • Nice interface
  • Good number of browsers
  • Easy to use
  • Can be slow at times
  • Not the cheapest
  • Does not cover every email client
Litmus is a must for a large e-commerce business that relies on email marketing for revenue generation. The simple fact is that building promotional emails without testing on a wide range of email clients will almost guarantee that you end up sending out broken emails to a high percentage of your customers. The only reason that the service might not be considered worthwhile would be if you are a small business and don't want to take on the cost involved.

In our organization, we support Fortune 500 companies' email programs and use Litmus to test rendering in email browsers. Typically sending tests from the ESP to Litmus, and often converting that to a Builder to troubleshoot. Collectively we send out hundreds of thousands of emails a day, and we need to be sure everything looks great, is readable, and is accessible to all.
  • Fast, typically accurate render previews
  • The Builder is very helpful and even faster
  • The community is invaluable
  • Sometimes renders are different when compared to real devices (not often)
Litmus is the G.O.A.T. for testing email renders. It does not compare, in my opinion, to the alternative psychedelic option. The UI is nice, easy to use, and it's almost never down. I love Litmus and couldn't do my job without it! So does our QA team.

We use Litmus to test email templates built across many email clients (Outlook, IOS, Gmail...). We want to make sure out templates render well in every email client so we use Litmus constantly. We also love the idea of sharing proof links with clients so they can give their feedback quickly.
  • It provides public links to share works with clients
  • You can set up sub accounts so you can organize your projects
  • We can send different versions of the same email to update status of emails
  • Litmus sometimes won't render pre-headers from emails
  • The shareable proof links expire after 30 days. I wish it could be at least 60
  • The integration with ESPs do not work so great
It is very well suited for QA test scenarios, especially when the great majority of your clients use the Outlook versions ( for example Outlook 16, 19, 365...) we have to make sure that the emails will render well on those different email clients, as well as the dark mode emails
